This seems to be a problem with Qt initialization.
Do you have other Qt libraries installed (maybe on a non ASCII path)?

Hi Ales,

I don't know what you mean by a non-ASCII path, but my $PATH reads:

/Usr/local/cuda/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/local/cuda/bin:/Applications/liftweb-1.0.1/apache-maven/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/texbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/local/bin

I have nothing in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

I do have Qt installed (in the mac "click the .dmg" sense) -- could this be the issue?

Thanks!
