Debian Etch (testing) problems

Postby yure » Sat Sep 23, 2006 10:50

Hi. I have been trying to run Orange on Debian Etch. It compiles OK, i can run it, but whatever icon I click shows something like

Code: Select all
Unhandled exception of type exceptions.ImportError  occured at 11:59:02:
Traceback:
  File: orngDoc.py in line 252
  Function name: addWidget
  Code: newwidget = orngCanvasItems.CanvasWidget(self.signalManager, self.canvas, self.canvasView, widget, self.canvasDlg.defaultPic, self.canvasDlg)
    File: orngCanvasItems.py in line 347
    Function name: __init__
    Code: exec(code)
      File: OWSave.py in line 16

      Code: import OWGUI
        File: OWGUI.py in line 3
        Function name: ?
        Code: import qwt
        Exception type: exceptions.ImportError
Exception value: No module named qwt

I have

python2.3 2.3.5-15
python-qt3 3.16-1.2
python-qwt4 4.2.1-2
Orange snapshot 2006-09-21.

Anyone had similar issues?

Upon further lookup I discovered that PyQwt is in fact installed, but cannot be imported as done by orange.

If I substitute instances of "import qwt" with "import Qwt4.Qwt" everything functions properly.

What might be the reason for this behaviour?
