Orange Install, Linux, Visualize Tab Missing

Postby nick » Sat Feb 20, 2010 16:24

I followed the instructions in the text file for a Linux install of

orange-source-snapshot-2010-02-19.zip

into an Ubuntu 9.10 installation. After apparently successful completion (no compilation error messages or other observed issues), I found that "import orange" and "import orngStat" worked perfectly. Orange canvas came up, but was missing the Visualize tab.

What should I do?

System info:
$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 9.10 \n \l
$ uname -a
Linux averatec 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

Orange Canvas Show Output Window immediately after startup:

This is a known bug in Ubuntu's Qwt5 package. As the bug is not resolved, try the following workaround if you are using Ubuntu Karmic. It worked for me. Download pyqwt from Vaclav's PPA: https://launchpad.net/~eudoxos/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/785933/+listing-archive-extra. Just download the correct version for your system architecture and install it.

Good luck!

The workaround appears to have worked. Thanks.

I got the same error

I got the same error on Fedora 11. Vaclav's PPA solution didn't work for me. Ay suggestion?
