installing Orange in OpenSUSE 11.2

Postby virtualx » Thu Mar 04, 2010 5:08

I'm having import problems; I'm getting an ImportError: cannot import name ExampleTable

My install steps were as follows:
Download the nightly build (bottom of page) for linux
Extract the zip file.
follow the instructions for install listed here:
http://www.ailab.si/orange/installation_suse.html
caveats:
- the version of numpy and PyQwt need to be incremented to the version you downloaded.
- when trying to run Orange Canvas, you will get an error "ImportError: No module named orange"
- create a blank file named __init__.py in the /usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/orange directory (this solution found here: http://www.ailab.si/orange/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2100)

Anyway, the install process is extremely tedious. Why not auto pack binaries?
