reading simple data file

Postby Sheila » Fri Jan 13, 2012 18:02

Hi to all,
I am new to Orange. I tried to read Documentation but still not sure that how should I import my data. I have a simple tab delimited text file in which data is like
Code: Select all
CLASS Value1 Value2 Value3
A 0.5 0.8 0.5
B 0.4 0.9 0.1

(First line is header, first column is class type and other columns are values).
How can I import this file in Orange so that I can do further analysis?

Orange is supposed to read it via Data tab-> File menu.

You can add the appropriate attribute definition lines to your tab delim. file. For instance
Code: Select all
CLASS Value1 Value2 Value3
d c c c
class
A 0.5 0.8 0.5
B 0.4 0.9 0.1
You can also load the file as is (but don't use the .tab extension in this case - use plain .txt instead) in the Orange Canvas and then use the Select attributes widget to fix its domain i.e. make the 'CLASS' attribute the domains class (for files without attribute definitions the last column is assumed to be the class)
