Big Data Capabilities

Postby Nico10 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 16:11

Hi all! Orange looks great!

Can someone help me with the general data capabilities? how many records with say 100 variables should Orange be able to handle, 10 000, 1 million, 10 million? And is the Linux performance far better than that of Windows, any comments?

Thanks!

Orange is not known for its conservative use of memory, but it can be used for 100.000 and upwards records on a 64bit build (depending on what you want to do, some algorithms are prohibitively expensive on such datasets).

I think the performance on windows is slightly better due to better MS compiler optimizations (at least that was the case a while ago, I am not sure how recent gcc releases compare).
