unsatisfied dependencies in Ubuntu 12.04 install

Postby jsperhac » Tue Aug 27, 2013 15:28

I have installed the nightly build of Orange, downloaded 23 August 2013, on Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit, 3.2.0-52-generic-pae) and am having difficulties running orange-canvas.

I used apt-get to install the following packages:
python-imaging (PIL)

I ran the build and install:
$ python build
$ sudo python install

Attempting to run orange-canvas, or invoking Orange.OrangeCanvas.main, gives the following error:

$ python -m Orange.OrangeCanvas.main
ERROR:Orange.OrangeCanvas.registry.discovery:Could not load 'Orange Widgets = Orange.OrangeWidgets' (unsatisfied dependencies).
Traceback (most recent call last):

A screen is displayed as follows:

Can you help me locate the needed dependency?

The missing dependency appears to be the python-setuptools, installation of which also provides python-distribute. Install with apt-get and then you can invoke orange-canvas, display the "Welcome to Orange Data Mining" screen, etc.

Thanks for this product--I'm looking forward to exploring it.
