Compiling on MacOSX 10.4.8

Postby saerens » Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:51

I am teaching data mining and I am highly interested in the Orange initiative.

My questions are:

(1) Would it be easy to compile only the scripting utilities (without the widget application) on MacOSX 10.4.8.

(2) Where could I find information on how to compile the source code on MacOSX 10.4.8. Do you think it would compile on MacOSX 10.4.8 ?

If yes, I will take some time in order to try to compile the sources.

Best Regards,

I have just made a Mac OS X bundle with the freshest Orange. You can find it under snapshots on Download page.

Please report any problems.

As for your questions:

(1) Would it be easy to compile only the scripting utilities (without the widget application) on MacOSX 10.4.8.

Yes. It works. Just checkout the sources from CVS repository and run make. This will build Python modules you can then import.

(2) Where could I find information on how to compile the source code on MacOSX 10.4.8. Do you think it would compile on MacOSX 10.4.8 ?

The information you can find around is currently quite outdated. But simple make should work.
