Classification tree in orange

Postby nizamusa » Fri May 04, 2007 20:51

I would like to know the classification tree (orngTree) in orange is based on which classification tree algorithm, ID3 or C4.5 or orange own implementation based on information entropy theory. If anybody know it, please reply to me.
thank you

regards,

It is based on a general divide-and-conquer technique for building classification trees, of which example implementations are ID3 (basic, no pruning), C4.5 and CART. Entropy-based assessment of purity of data subsets is just one of the criteria you can use for building classification trees, and just one of many implemented in Orange - see documentation for details.
