install on 64 bit debian system

Postby finale » Fri Aug 10, 2007 3:17

Hi, I'm trying to install orange from source on a debian system.

I have tried to apt-get sip4, python-sip4-dev, python-qt-dev, and python-qwt4. I have gcc 4.1.2, python 2.5, and numpy 1.0.3.

When I try python setup.py install, I get the following errors:

NOTE: Python Qt not installed, OrangeCanvas and OrangeWidgets will not work.
You can get it at: http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/pyqt/index.php
Sipconfig not found, Qt version could not be found!
PyQwt not installed!
You can get it at: http://pyqwt.sourceforge.net/
Can not determine GCC version!
... various build messages ...
Python version: 2.5
PyQt version:
Qt version:
NumPy version: 1.0.3
Qwt version:
GCC version: n/a

I know I must be missing something simple. If it helps: I tried compiling pyqt from scratch, but during the configure, I get the error:

Determining the layout of your Qt installation...
Error: Failed to create ./qtdirs using platform linux-g++. Make sure your
compiler is installed correctly and you have a working make on your PATH.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Same problem here. While running "./configure" on the PyQt-source, I receive the following error-message:
Code: Select all
Failed to create ./qtdirs using platform linux-g++. Make sure your
compiler is installed correctly and you have a working make on your PATH.

How do I fix this?

setup.py not working on Ubuntu 8.10 x64

I still don't think the setup.py file works under python. I tried this as well and it told me that I didn't have PyQwt, which I do. The manual install instructions on the Download link work just fine though. Using setup.py is the desirable way however.
