python error on Orange for Windows

Postby sree » Fri Aug 08, 2008 4:42

I have downloaded and installed Orange for Windows. I was following the beginners tutorial where the "lenses" data set is loaded and I get an error as follows:

>>> import orange
>>> print orange.version
0.99b (06:19:13, Jun 11 2008)
>>> data = orange.ExampleTable("lenses")
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<interactive input>", line 1, in <module>
SystemError: file 'lenses' is not found or has unknown extension

Can someone help?

Sri

Hi,

I would say that you don't have the lenses dataset in the current directory.

try specifying the full path to the dataset, like:

data = orange.ExampleTable(r"c:\Orange\doc\datasets\lenses.tab")

where you use the path to the lenses dataset on your system.

Regards,
Gregor

Thanks

Greg,

Thanks for your help. Using the absolute path worked.
