1.) How well does orange deal with large amounts of data?
2.) Can I use it in my Java programs?
3.) How is the link with database systems like mySql? Can I use my mySql database?

Ok, I'm quite new to Orange but:

1) I dont know, but since Orange is mainly C implemented it should be now problem (but depends of what you men with "large")

2) Jython doesn't work but you could try to do something with Java Native Interface and C-Code (for really good programmers only  )

3) If you use Orange within Python scripts you can easyly the MySQL-API of Python to read and write data
