Creating decision tree from the output of orngTree.printTree

Postby bgbg » Sun Jan 31, 2010 14:45

I would like to save (and then load) decision trees to human readable text files. Currently I'm aware of two options, both of which do not suit my needs.

The first one is using Python's pickle. However, the resulting file cannot be manually edited and is not readable for humans. The second option is to use orngTree.printTree, which results in a nice text representation of the tree, but is useless if one needs to create an actual tree using this representation.

orngTree.printTree probably comes closest to what you want. What do you mean by "an actual tree"?

orngTree.printTree is good for output. I'm looking for a way to to create a tree using modified output of orngTree.printTree

You would like to somehow read it back to Orange (or somewhere)? You would prefer to have something like XML?
