Import Datasets/Files

Postby collinan » Fri Jun 11, 2010 5:16

Hi Orangers,
I wanted to import my own datasets following the patterns of the provided datasets but it did never work in the form of ASCII file as well as Arff file; This window always appears/

"Unhandled exception of type UnicodeEncodeError occured at 15:10:33:
Traceback:
File: OWFile.py, line 190 in browseFile
Code: filename = str(QFileDialog.getOpenFileName(self, 'Open Orange Data File', startfile, self.dlgFormats))
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xe9' in position 15: ordinal not in range(128)"

How did you create operational .tab?
Many thanks.

The problem seems to be in the your file name/path. Try renaming/moving it to some simple path with all ASCII characters.

Hi Ales,
I changed the file path (for ASCII and ARFF files) and the error window changed the message:

"Unhandled exception of type AttributeError occured at 11:49:52:
Traceback:
File: OWWidget.py, line 133 in reportAndFinish
Code: self.sendReport()
File: OWFile.py, line 311 in sendReport
Code: self.reportData(self.dataReport)
AttributeError: dataReport"

From .csv, you have to copy and paste the dataset on a .txt file, come back and paste it into Excel using the wizard in order to put each value in an identified cell, then copy and paste this outcome into a .txt file.
The Orange File Loader finally reads it without pb.
