RSS feed for Orange-related news

Postby KiBi » Wed Feb 07, 2007 22:44

Hi,

IMHO, it would be good to have an RSS feed for the latest news, so I'd like to suggest the use of a tiny (dirty) script I developed a while ago for another website, which handles both RSS and HTML output. Unfortunately this is a perl script, but well, I guess it can be easily adapted to use something more python-ish, like python+yaml, or something like that.

In http://kibi.sysif.net/pub/scripts/orange-news/ you'll find everything you need: the perl script, a sample rss input (orange-news.rss), which content is formatted like that:
Code: Select all
Title
Forum thread number
RFC-2822-compliant date
Body that can contain some paragraphs
.
Using a folding technique.
.
Like that.

(Please note that entries are separated by an empty line, and that the last entry must be followed by an empty line too.)

Also included, the example RSS (orange-example.xml), which should be valid, according to http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fkibi.sysif.net%2Fpub%2Fscripts%2Forange-news%2Forange-example.xml and HTML output (orange-example.html), which you can include in the left pane.

Cheers,

Guess what: we already had it, we just haven't announced it. :)

http://www.ailab.si/orange/forum/rss.php is a feed with topics from all forums, and http://www.ailab.si/orange/forum/rss-news.php contains only the news.

I'll put this in News, too. Thanks for the nudge. :)

Janez
