Dual Monitor problem: Main window is displayed hals on one a

Postby anton » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:56

I have a pc with dual monitor on windows vista.

Whe I start "Orange Canvas" on the desktop,
the application window appears in the middle of the 2 monnitors:

in the center of the 2-monitor-desktop

It should be placed in the center of the main monitor (or monitor 1).

The title should be:

Main window is displayed half on one and half on the other

Can confirm same bug on Windows XP SP2. Drives me nuts.

Gregor, what if canvas just remembered/retrieved its last position?

Janez,

i think this was fixed long ago. This is the current code from orngCanvas.pyw:

Code: Select all
# center window in the desktop
# in newer versions of Qt we can also find the center of a primary screen
# on multiheaded desktops
desktop = app.desktop()
deskH = desktop.screenGeometry(desktop.primaryScreen()).height()
deskW = desktop.screenGeometry(desktop.primaryScreen()).width()
h = max(0, deskH/2 - height/2)  # if the window is too small, resize the window to desktop size
w = max(0, deskW/2 - width/2)
self.move(w,h)

it checks the primary screen and moves the window to the center of it.

Guest (I don't know your name): Do you perhaps have some special desktop management sofware that you are using?

I am a different guest, but I can confirm the same bug with no desktop management software. I'm using Windows 7 though.
