orange module not found - ubuntu 9.04

Postby Nosferaxx » Sun Sep 20, 2009 1:44

Hey guys,

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and I tried installing Orange on my distro... Everything seems to run fine, but when I am done and try to test my installation

python

import orange

ImportError: No module named orange

Bam..

Sooo I've checked around a bit.. orange can be found under /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orange

I followed the instructions closely though. Has anyone else tried this//succeeded ?

thanks in advance,

JC

Did you also instruct the system where to find orange? You can do this with the following 2 lines (pasted from installation instructions):

Code: Select all
sudo sh -c "echo '/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orange' > /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orange.pth"
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orange/liborange.so /usr/lib/liborange.so

[/code]

It is failing to import because there is no __init__.py file in the orange directory: /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/orange

Just create a blank file named __init__.py in that direactory and it will import fine
