select attributes

Postby carbonmetrics » Sun Jun 20, 2010 16:30

widget "select attributes" makes orange crash.
does not matter whether you select it with other widgets in place, or alone.
using windows 7, 64 bit.

same here :(

every time I click on select attributes, orange canvas crashes. I tried re-installing with the latest version. I am running it on Vista

Are you running the Python2.5 or Python2.6 version.

Postby jcnork » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:40

Running 2.5.2, do I need to update to 2.6? If so, it would be cool if the orange install package did that! either way let me know what I need to do to fix it. I really appreciate your help!

Postby jcnork » Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:07

I see here http://www.python.org/download/releases/
there are a number of newer releases"
2.6.5
2.7
3.0.1
3.1.2

Do you want me to install 2.6.5 or one newer then that?

Postby Ales » Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:39

No orange should work with 2.5.2.

The problem is I can't duplicate the crash.
Does any other widget crash the canvas?

Postby jcnork » Fri Jul 30, 2010 13:00

I tried every single widget and the only other one that crashes is "Net Explorer", which I don't need. I really need to get "Select Attributes" working again though...
I USED to work on this computer! (I think)...
I've seen several posts in the forums with the same problem running different versions of windows.

Should I try upgrading my version of pythonw to 2.6.5?

Postby Ales » Fri Jul 30, 2010 13:18

Yes, try installing the Orange with Python2.6 and required libraries package http://www.ailab.si/orange/download/orange-win-w-python-snapshot-2010-07-30-py2.6.exe

fixed it

Postby jcnork » Mon Aug 02, 2010 22:52

The way I fixed it was to uninstall all versions of python and all versions of python supporting files, rebooting and THEN installing the new 2.6 python version of orange canvas again ( http://www.ailab.si/orange/download/ora ... -py2.6.exe). Everything seeems to be working now... Select attributes doesnt crash and the k-means widget is there again!
