how to install on linux

Postby ryuuguu » Fri May 27, 2005 12:32

The make install says to use python distutils
python distutils says run
python setup.py install
in unpack directory. There is no setup.py in the snapshot.
after building the snapshot what do I do to get it into the site packages.

Cheers,
Grant

Hi,
setup.py is not included in the snapshot yet (It is writte and tested and all... but I didn't put it in the scripts that are preparing snapshots). It REALLY will be added next week.

You can checkout setup.py from CVS:

install-scripts/linux/setup.py

put it into orange/source directory, change OrangeVer variable to something suitable (like Orange-0.99 or smth) and run 'python setup.py install'

Regards, Jure

I got setup from the CVS and put it in install changing the version name but I grr this error.

Code: Select all
[root@localhost source]# python setup.py install
running install
running build
running build_py
package init file '__init__.py' not found (or not a regular file)
error: package directory 'OrangeCanvas' does not exist

I moved it up one directory and it seems to be working .
Code: Select all
import orange
orange.version

works
Cheers,
Grant
