install problem in windows

Postby HaveF » Wed May 29, 2013 9:26

Hi, orange developers & users, :D

I use anaconda as my python environment. (http://continuum.io/downloads.html)
But when I install Orange Full package, it seems can't find I have installed python already.
And it will install python again...

The orange windows full package check which part of system to ensure the python
environment? The regedit entries? or dirs?

How can I make orange sure I have install python, pyqt, numpy...already?

Thanks!

It checks the Windows registry entries.

You could try installing python and orange (plain package) and then moving the Orange* directories/files from site-packages into anaconda's python (assuming it is binary compatible).

Do other python package installers install normally into anaconda? If so try Christoph Gohlke's Unofficial Binaries. It includes an installer for Orange (pure library no dependencies and shortcuts).

Hi, Ales,

Thanks for your prompt reply:-)

With your answer, I just check the src of orange, find
https://bitbucket.org/biolab/orange/src ... at=default

and add HKCU Software\Python\PythonCore\${NPYVER}\InstallPath to regedit, all works now.

thanks again!

well... old problem has gone, but the new one comes...

After I install Orange 2.7 for Windows (Built May 29, 2013 at 04:51 CEST), the icon is on the desktop, but when click it, nothing appear.

Have any idea?

I just notice in the page:
http://orange.biolab.si/download/
it only have
Pure Orange: Snapshot of Orange for Python 2.7 .
But in this page(http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#orange):
it have x86, x64 version, so, that is to say, on the page http://orange.biolab.si/download/,
it's a x86 version?

Use this version(http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#orange), and go to the dir
C:\Anaconda\Lib\site-packages\Orange\OrangeCanvas
click orngCanvas.pyw, the orange window appears.

Still don't know why the version on this site couldn't run...

Yes, it is x86 build (we do not provide x64 builds).

Got it.

Hope this site has its original 64bit version of Orange...(at least has a x64 Pure Orange version).

Thank you, Ales!

Hi,
Could you make Orange run in Win? I am facing exactly the same problem.
If yes, can you give me any clue?
Thanks a lot!
