A More Universal Database Structure

Postby sourceview » Fri May 05, 2006 19:03

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to establish a more universal database infrastructure which would allow use of databases other than mysql, especially postgresql. Many of the more sophisticated ERP/CRM/OLTP applications, such as Sequoia ERP and OpenCRX use postgresql. But why limit the user to a particular database.

you are right, but this should be done be somebody that uses such databases [we in ljubljana don't]. i think taking orngMySQL and converting it to fit any other DBMS would be quite simple, there's not much code there anyway.

ODBC Connector

The simplest way 8I hope) would be to have a connector to ODBC. Then you can actually hook up anywhere that supports ODBC. Does that already exist?
