Ticket #1192 (closed bug: fixed)
syntax bug in scripting tutorial blocks new developers
|Reported by:||nitin||Owned by:||blaz|
First of all thanks very much for your contribution to humanity in the form of this amazing framework.
I had some difficulty getting started with scripting and I'd like to suggest a bug fix that would make it better for developers who are new to Orange.
On page http://orange.biolab.si/doc/tutorial/start/ right at the bottom you say in the text "import Orange" capital O but the screen shot shows "import orange" - lowercase O. This leads to false error messages. The screen shot should say "import Orange" capital O.
Most people don't read the text much and just look at the screenshot. It was only when i read the docs further about Using the .DMG for scripting, that I realized that the directory was named 'Orange' with a capital o. Then when I tried "import Orange" it worked just fine.
It would be really useful to developers who are very new to the Orange dev env if this was fixed. Otherwise many developers just give up at this point especially on Mac and Windows where directories of libraries are in non standard places when you do a package install.
Hope you can fix this soon.
Thanks very much again for your contribution to humanity.
