Description

The Orange Snapshot does not place the orange libraries in the python path. That is:

import orange

does not work from ipython

I also tried to do easy_install orange from the command line. The build failed with the following errors:  https://gist.github.com/1155258

I figured you guys would like to know.

Change History

I went to the orange installation directory osx and ran ipython (/Volumes/Orange/Orange.app/Contents/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/orange)

I got the following errors:  https://gist.github.com/1155298

Starting python up in 32bit mode got rid of the errors.

I just tested the 'easy_install orange' command and it seems to work. Your problem is probably related the the missing assembler for ppc architecture. Try building for i386 and x86_64 architectures only by running:

export CXXFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64"
export CFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64"
export LDFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64"
easy_install orange

I thought it may be something like that. The build has a few warnings, but nothing huge:  https://gist.github.com/1157701

Needed to do sudo easy_install orange to get orange into the python path. May be worth noting that on the download page.

Thanks for the quick response!
